From his student days at the University of the Philippines, College of Fine Arts, Dan Raralio has shown himself to be a multifaceted artist with a universal appeal. He is in turn witty, comic, serious or all these together. He is also both sculptor and painter. His artistic style is enriched by many sources: classical, cubist, surrealist, formalist, postmodern. Though these are mainly Western sources, an oriental strain comes in with some origami constructions and Zen-derived minimalism. His works combine the cerebral and the emotional, but always in an unceasing pursuit of beauty, whether in classical forms or in postmodern articulations and sculptures posing riddles to the mind in endless hours of fascination.
